A Little Club History...

Early in 1986, several members of the newly formed Northeast Chapter of the Atlantic Peruvian Horse Club held their first meeting in Church Hill, Maryland. The purpose of this meeting was to organize interested members in promoting the Peruvian Paso horse in the northeast region of the United States. Among those in attendance included the Gills, the Nobles and the Dauernheims, along with Lyn Slocum and the late Bob Brody.

After several expanded meetings, the Northeast Peruvian Horse Club, or NEPHC, was formed. Charter members of the Club included Gene Pepe, Jean and Al Dauernheim, Juan Carlos and Kathy Gill, Donald and Sonja Wirth, the late Bob Glover, Linda Sigman, Rico and Ginny Genovese, Joe and Pinky Nobles, Nancy and Joe Gabala, Bob Hooper, Bunny Hooper, Bob and Joan Newton, Mel Oppenheimer, Connie Hydel, Jeff and Pat Williams and Naomi Baker. Some of these individuals have since become lifetime members of the NEPHC.

The Northeast Peruvian Horse Club has organized and participated in a yearly Regional Show beginning in 1988. In addition to the Regional Show, the Club has planned demonstrations, exhibitions, trail rides, clinics, and various social events. Our clinics have included instruction from such knowledgeable experts as Javier LaRosa, Raul Risso, German Baca, Auriello Gallegos, Juan Gallegos, Marcos Parodi, Pepe Risso, Jr., Bruno Pasini, Jeff Marcum, Ann Chess, Edie Gandy and Mimi Busk-Downey.

The Club is constantly looking for arenas in which to promote the Peruvian Paso breed and have participated in parades, local demonstrations, and in 1998, the Equine Affaire held in Massachusetts. Each year brings new possibilities. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Northeast Peruvian Horse Club, please complete the membership form on the next page and send it to the address listed. If you have questions regarding the breed, any member would be more than happy to talk with you.
